Contemporary Art
If you are interested in contemporary art, there is such diversity and variety that Africa, as a continent, offers a plethora of intriguing and different art. When African art is mentioned, the immediate thought is one of masks and wood carvings, but this is not necessarily the case.
Art surrounds one; everywhere you look is art. Did you know that commissioned works of art grace many a building when you walk down the streets in the cities of Africa?
There are numerous contemporary art works and many a African contemporary art paintings are represented in Museum’s across the globe. An excellent example of contemporary African art being represented, was in 2002 in Khumasi, Ghana where the works of no fewer than eleven signed painters displayed their works, and alongside these, renowned artist Atta Kwami hailing from Ghana, displayed his wonderful works too.
Proud to be one of South Africa’s leading contemporary artists, I sell art both locally and internationally. My inspiration was my artist mother, Gail Josselsohn, who has mentored me my whole life. Although I have varied interests, the works of Picasso, Jackson Pollock, Miro and all African ethnic tribal art has motivated me to use earthy tones and striking colours in my art. A technique that is unique that I utilize is taught to budding artists and if you are interested in attending one of the numerous workshops held nationally, you have found the right place.
